A) I think jon ran 24, maybe 36 and tbh thats about all the car will handle.
To run a yank (seperate chassis like a lorry frame remember!!) at 60v without breaking it regularly it needs reinforcing with 6mm plate the length of the chasiss just as a starting point.
For each step up from 24 you need to ass an extra solenoid as well (or four extra as you have four pumps.
Also upgrade cables anad disconnects.
Unless you have proper Competition US pump/motor units they will burn our in no time at anything over 36v.
B) NEVER use lesuire batteries.
They are designed to stand full discharge/recharge without harm and that's what you pay the extra for.
Running with low batts is the last thing you want to do in a Lo.
Low volts will increase the chance of a sol or switch sticking or cable frying (as volts go down current goes up).
Untill you have experience on a switch box you will overcook things now and then BUT you'll get away with it at 24v.......at 60v AND with low batts you will soon have a fire in the boot.
Using standard batteries means you will have to recharge as soon as the moves start to slow down which is a big safety feature.

ok........lol cheers for that,

i would say jon may have been running 36 maybe as there are only two batteries trays in the boot one on each side which fits 3 batt's in each but i dont no how many pumps he was running,

the 4 pumps i now have are brand new and dont have any names or marking on them i also dont have any paper work for them :s, they dont look the world best!!!!

the reason i was geting the numax batteries is i can get them from work for like £30 each but if there no good never mind i will have to just dig deeper into my pockets lol

would you say 8 batteries running 24 to each pump off there own battery tray...????

what type of batteries would you suggest...???

Need pump pics then and any valves you have.
Starter batteries are best at wacking out full ampage over short bursts. 663 or 664 are good balance of weight and output.
If you can get lesuires that cheap get them......just dont use the run flat bit!

the image has to be on the net somewhere.

then click the "IMG" icon when in the "reply" page (the one above the  :) icon)

then paste the net adress between the IMG brackets.

If you cant host the images anywhere email them to me and I'll do it

pretty standard industrial units .....................
Built in drop valve and pressure relieve valve.
PRV will have a max pressure of 1800 psi ish and the drop valve will have a fixed max flow so there is no point trying to go above 24 volts. You MAY get a bit more speed at 36 but more than likely all that will happen is  the PRV will blow off the extra and cause serious heat build up.
the drop valve wont allow the extra to return fast enough to keep up with any extra lift .

That solenoid will struggle with more than the 12v its rated at.

Build a nice reliable 24v system. lets have a shot of the rams and mountings to  get an idea of what weight they will handle.............................

pretty shit pumps i take it then?  :-\

Car isnt going to raise or dance very quick at all then i take it lol!!

Ive seen that the rams are not fixed in anyway at the min just sat in place with blocks off wood between the base plate of the ram and the top of the coil!! Ill try and remove them all over the next couple of weeks and have a better look at them and work out what size they are too.

Saying that ill remove the pumps at the same time as there fitted real shit. In books ive read and pics ive seen etc ive never seen solenoid on the pumps!! Through they had to go onto the side of the battery tray for good earth and to have at least 3 on each???

more pics

Not shit......just need to use them within their limits. You've been looking at pics of US custom pumps and sols which are different animals to any UK sourced units (even if they may look similar)
Still what you have plumbed and wired right will give reasonable moves for a euro.

you dont need dumps, the built in valves on the centre blocks do that job. Also will have built in check valves. (it is the built in nature of these that limit the flow handling and so the ultimate speed you will get)
you'll need four slow downs (i can see one on a middle pump) to balance everything up.
Looks like the racks will take 3 batts per side ?............. I would aim at 24v all the same at least  to start with, it can always be changed to 36 easily later on.
Are you going to source sols, switches etc in UK ? You need to decide that before we can advise on what you should get and  how a switch box will be wired (it can be done with simple 3 pin UK switches but will need diodes as well to get all the moves).

If you want I will design the circuits (oil and elec) for you but need to know where the bits will come from as US/UK will make things different. You will get the same moves/speed either way (switch box to include panic with UK switches will be more complicated but not a problem).
Big advantage of UK bits is obviously availability of replacements.................

It will be good to see a a bit of history back again. Jon will have given you a good basis to work on :)

a ok, see i ent got a clue have i lol ive got 4 slow downs and a switch box

think it is best just to run 24v like you have said quess i gota learn to walk before i can run,
i havnt looked yet into sourcein parts from anywhere as didnt realy no what i was going to be after, but what ever you can advice me on that that will be the route i'll take lol    (redline over blackpole in worcester???)

there dose seem to be a lot of history behind the car which is helping me to make sure i get her up and running again even found this old pic on the net over the weekend.
