Italy and europe generally...
« on: July 23, 2009, 06:31:03 PM »
Just my 2p on travel.....As I've got older ,I ve got a wander lust....so.....Last year me,Chris and Jody 'backpacked' Italy from Pisa in the north to Pompeii, and back up again ,by train .1000 miles,9 cities,in 9 days!It was without a doubt THE best holiday Ive EVER had! So much to see,and so easy to travel . We didnt exactly rough it ,and I use' backpacked 'generally as we used hotels ,but did take freaking great back packs instead of suitcases. We found them easier to throw on /off trains.Lots of funny stories and fantastic memories . Pompeii ruins at night was Awesome ,and we want to go back to see it in the day time . Gladiators at the Colisseum ,Leaning tower of Pisa etc etc.We arent going anywhere this year ,(apart from a short reccy visit we had earlier this year to Spain)but 2010 we intend to do Spain ,North to South ,mainly by local flights from city to city ,as they appear cheaper than trains, with trains mixed in.Barcelona,Madrid ,Jerez etc etc. We will then go on to Gibralta, across to Morocco ,and if time allows down to Marakesh ,(just want to say Ive ridden the Marakesh express ,as per the song!)then poss fly back from there to UK.Should all take about 14/15 days I reckon!

LOL!
Tis true Ant! I seem to alternate over the years car/camper /car/camper..So maybe Im ready for a camper again! Trouble is I really want a splitty, but I know theyre out of my price range, and also a bit slow and tempremental! Now if I could maybe swap my Merc for a nice t25 etc,I may go for it. Have mothballed the Merc this year,so maybe I should start looking ...hmmmmmm!
