I was hopin i wouldnt reach this point, but like a kettle, once youve boiled its time to make the tea!

Negativity in the scene is at an all time high, its as if the lowrider scene is having its own little recession, and a bit like the recession, it appears those at the top of the tree aint really affected, and by that i mean Unity with there history and some may say hidden depth in the scene, have no real complaints, and more power to them, Jon S at Bug Jam may have been considered suicide once upon a time, but thankfully, things have moved on.

My point however is how far things have changed since the days of the Dixons, Angry Ali, huge Lordz events and what possibly became the biggest turning point in the scene as i know it, Tarun. as much as i hate to admit it, or give him the pleasure, cos everyone knows how little respect i have for the bloke, but when he was around the interclub rivalry and the desire to be 'the best' appeared to be at an all time high, and good times where bein had on the back of it, the Lordz organised 'Coast View' events being most notable for crazy crazy crazy crazy nights. But unfortunately he totally fucked things up by what in my opinion was the straw that broke the camels back for the original Max Hydraulics, which had a domino effect for Lordz in that the foundations the club was built on had been shattered, and in turn the vast majority of the party orientated lowriders that kept the scene aposed to the vehicles being the priority, had either given up, or resigned to the fact that lowriders are best kept in the garage, massive massive shame.

More specific to our club however, has been the huge hole left by the Dixons, again, stevie and amy had their own opinions that helped keep rivalry alive, but more importantly, the desire to be the best drove our more untamed members to concentrate on building cars rather then piss people off on the net (ali!). The likes of teamrod, ali and keith all had the desire to build cars that could hop or move well with the intention of showing everyone else we could indeed do what they can do over the pond, but when was the last time you heard about anyone building hoppers? or even attempting to hop? would you be hopping if stevie was still here?

More recently ive heard talk of people admitting defeat or regarding the scene i love as dead, mainly due to the lack of parts, lack of passion, and lack of comradary between freinds, and its absence is notable at shows too, no longer do we sit amongst cars, hitting switches with blurred vision from alcohol and drug fueled idiocy, pissing off security guards, health and safety, and more importantly other show go-ers (the nats last year is the only exception!), and it sucks, so much so i dont feel like i organise events and gatherings with passion for the scene, but more because i feel its doomed if i dont.

So please, if you have any love left in lowriding, what it was, what it is, and what it could be, stop being so negative, it may be going thro a bad point but i promise ill do all i can to re-kindle your flame regardless of club, car, or who you are, you've all played a massive part in something thats made me and many others happy, and ill do everything i can to put something back.

Never forget, mates are mates, keep them by your side and they will move mountains for you.

I've read that 3 times and i still don't know how to respond to it. Being car-less for the foreseeable i don't really consider myself part of the scene anymore, not that that has any bearing on anything. I do think the work that you put into show organisation is commendable thought pete, so well done for that.

You never know if my business proves fruitful i may once again have an uppy downy car, maybe.

anyone who's been involved in the scene shouldnt consider themselves out of the scene unless they really want to be, out of the scene! just be dormant or somethin! one day you may burst into low life again, but either way it doesnt matter, cos there will always be people willing to help out when you need them to.

I didnt know he had an affect on MH..........have I totally missed something ? ....................... as for the scene and interclub rivalry, nobody at Lordz gave him a second thought far as I was aware. I am acutly aware that most of the snipping and shit has appeared around me one way or another. I started at Unity with SD [which is why D and I decided to start Lo-rdz in the first place] then spilled over again onto lowriderforums after we started it from the Ali/AD/SD stuff [I really have no idea what that was all about tho........]

Apart from that stuff, which is all in the past anway, I dont see negativity here [never go to the other forums incase I become a catalyst again], more reality over the present state of the country a a whole.................. like it or not the crunch has/will change not only our scene but most leisure based stuff for years to come.

oh.... it was a complete bag of shite when it first came [got some pics somewhere but basically the complete floor was two bits poprivetted to the tunnel and sills, then hidden with wads of underseal], as I rmember he took some persuading to get it put right b4 being converted. It took some months for the body and paint to be done and it was during that time the opurtunity to move to printing came, purely a decision made on money tbh, i've never been so well off as i am since moving to it [no spare time tho ].
I fitted the Benz on my off days [in between 12 hour night and day shifts] so probably the  fukking around was on my part not T's, but whatever I made the decision regardless of T being a pain in the bum  :thumbsdown:

as to inter club rivalry.................. i dont think that played any part in what or how lo-rdz did things. The time was just right for us all to do what we did and we did it better than everyone else [as Pete aluded to  ;;d ]


and now.................. it's not negativity, its just a different time and for one reason or another it doesnt suit most of us now so we are moving aside for those it does suit

It's not negative, it's just quiet. Most of the main (older) players in this silly hobby appear to have better things to do at the moment - maybe recession, maybe other factors - starting a family in my case. Maybe some of us have finally realised that we simply look like fecking idiots bouncing away at the traffic lights. Actually, that bit will never wear thin!

As for bringing up this rather dull history again... Stevie hopping / Tarun being a dick / Ali being a keyboard gangsta one minute, a quiet spotty child the next... Old news dude... Please drop it! It only encourages this so called negativity. With few exceptions, we're just a bunch of hapless mates who enjoy getting shit faced together, brought together by our love of the marvel that is the lowrider.

I know a lot of us oldies have taken a step back recently, but as Iain says, we'll always be here, lurking and helping the newbies out. I would love to juice my limo - all the parts are in the barn waiting, but I just can't justify the time to bolt it all together at the moment, but it will get done eventually.

I not going to make it to many shows this summer, but still really looking forward to catching up with everyone at the Retro Rides gathering near Yeovil in August 15/16. I'll be in my camper rather than a low, hopefully towing the track-day car. I hope we can get loads of us together, get drunk and talk cars. Iain, that includes you!
