juice, hydraulics etc needed...... :)
« on: March 21, 2009, 03:22:29 PM »
Hey guys, i've decided i wanna juice the lincoln instead of baggin it, but i reckon its gonna be damn hard now to find juicing parts i reckon, as there's nobody really doing it now  :(

Anyway, i'm just gonna go for the 2 pump system with 6 batteries as i always had, does the job and i dont wanna wreck the lincoln with stupid amounts of uppydownynous (is that a wors?) but it needs summut, damn them speed bumps and long wheelbases!! i'm limited where i can go at the moment  8)

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas to get me up and running just hola this way please.....

is it worth while my checking out old contacts in UK ?
I could find pump units/valves/cyls etc easy enough BUT they wont be "lowrider" units obviously, having said that I can spec 24v units that will be tough enough for a bit of clowning, hopping would mean mods to the units and I dont have time to sort that.

They wont be cheap.......... remember 95% of units are imported anyway from euroland, but with $/£ rates having put US imports out of question I can have a go.

when the £ was $1.70 ish
i reckoned that if you turned $'s into £'s [so call your PH kit £1050] that was about the cost to cover delivery to airport/freight/duty/VAT/handling charges/delivery from airport as long as I was flying in 10 pumps at at time [or equiv value/weight]. There are fixed costs and min freight charges so smaller batches didnt work out economic.
As the $/£ ratio has dropped the freight element will be a fair bit higher in proportion [freight always based on $ value]

giving this some thought.........................
I reckon US stuff is now dead in the water.
Long term, if we want any supply that means anything it needs to be home sourced.
Look at the problems of spares [motors/couplings/etc] both being available at all and being available in a reasonable time frame.

within a few days I should have some prices...................
I am speccing
twin post motors [no earthing probs]
billet center block [not cast like most euro stuff]
splined pump drive [needs no explanation!]
brushes/couplings/seals/motors all replaceable and available in UK

I dont see imported stuff ever being viable again really, exchange rate is never going to go back to what it was and we need avaliablity of spares as well as components.
It WONT be cheap but hopefully will be reasonable and reliable.

thanks for taking some time to lookinto it, i have been chatting with quere jeans (aka gray) and looking at the prospect of buying a kit direct freom pro hopper

http://www.catalog.prohopper.com/product_info.php?cPath=45_77&products_id=181

i know its not the cheapest now, but apart from springs what else would need to be purchased, i cant really afford the time or physical cost of spending on stuff that aint gonna do the job first time round. Sometimes wish it weas 5 years ago again, so we wouldn't be having this conversation :(

....... erm, sorry, that sounded like a dig a you Iain, it wasn't meant as that!!! just the situation :)

the above kit does at least have chrome pumps and rams and descent switch box, is it over priced? i mean if we could a few sets together for those who need it then surely we could reduce physical costs? i'm out my depth a bit here as i've never imported anything like this in, so i guess some feedback will appear hear?

 8)

that is the other option.... a group buy to share the fixed costs.
PH is good and I usually got what I asked for from them unlike CC and BM who where almost always short or wrong, nothhing major in value BUT it is a major pain when you cant send wrong bits back [too far/expensive] or finish a job until you get more which will be with the next shipment as small heavy deliveries cost a fortune  [They did put it right by sending the missing bits but it still left me with extra freight/duty/VAT........... I never did work out a way of telling customs that " actually I didnt get this bit in the first shippment even tho it was on the consignment"].

Your selected kit is good but here's a few pointers..................[assuming this is for the linc and you will be running 36v, no serious hopping]

  • It comes with G-Force II Gears, which is good.
Ask for #8. Any bigger will reduce the charge cycle of 36v.
  • Select Upgrade 2.
You want to go coil over [for safety] and power balls [for reliability] on the rear.
  • If you want chrome cyl you need to select Upgrade 3
Personally I wouldnt bother as they wont stay hrome for long in UK!
  • Select upgrade 4
Deep cups for the front. Makes the front coil far less likely to pop out
  • Select upgrade 7
12" rear cyls. The Linc should easily handle them.
  • Get coils from them as well
Ask for advice but I would reckon precut 2 Ton for the rear [may need cutting] 3 1/2 Ton for the front [also will need cutting to get the drop you want]

Tip........ run on the coils as they come for a couple of months. They WILL "shrink" a bit. If you trim them first  you will end up too low and if you "bed them in" b4 fitting as they commonly do in US you still dont know if they will "bed in" more.

  • For the extra cost [while you are shipping anyway] consider getting spare motor/pump couplings [2], Solenoids [6], cyl seal kits [8] + bushings [4] and Blow Proof seals [2]

If you go more than 36v you also want more solenoids and Upgrade 8 [fatter hoses]

If you do a group buy add a box of Solenoids and some motors.
