thats why i wanted side and side not front and back,but this means when i pump all up from being fully dumped my rear end is fully raised while the front is almost fully dropped and at the mo' the rear lifts too high and i dont want to over stress the rear mounts,thats why i was thinking of putting elec lockoffs in the rear.

this is why it is important to have the rears on a merc the right length.......... if you are chipping you get the best with the rear locked up [solid] so all the movment is concentrated on the front.
you obviously realise the importance of not overlocking the rear already so you have the option of remounting to get the extended length available in the right place [drop the bottom mount by however much it needs or fit internal spacers in the cyls] or lock offs will do what you want.
Most things improve with age................
