here u go pete
https://www.hertsinsurance.com
They will cover van and all its toys yeee haaa  not cheap but at least its all declared.
bloke was well helpfull, and did tell me somthink. (quote this is what he said not me) In the nr future they want to bring in  a sv check to be done.  Then they want the certificate to so say its road worthy, before they will cover it.
I heard they were trying to bring somthink like this in for trailer/caravans, as other places in europe already do this.

sv might not be its right name but the one uhave to do with some kitcars and imports

ther is an EU directive being pushed thro at the moment that would mean ALL modified vehicles will have to go through an SUV after modification.
there is oposition to it  but it is still being considered.
as it stands it would mean virtually all classic/modified/rally cars/lorries/etc would be banned from public roads.............

Is it not an SVA test? Or is that somethin else? I think my mate had to put his VW trike through that kind of test anyway...

the SVA is for vehicles that have been build or significantly modified from there original config, i.e. a kit car or changing a regitered bike into a trike, as i believe. it also applies to imports etc to ensure there compliance wi UK law.

this SUV wotsitmafloge is the kind of thing that exists in oz and NZ where you have to have your mods certified, or certified parts fitted by a certified dude. i think thats what it is. otherwise you get silly things like how in spain and france its illigal to mod your engine, hence crazy euro styling and in israel its illigal to mod full stop other then body, so no lowering or nothing!

SVA tests are not needed on imports if the vehicle is over 10 years old either, which can be handy...

this whole SVA thing is a crock; I know the test is easy enough to get through if you read the rules (Ive put two kit cars through for mates in the last 12months or so), but not allowing people to make their own modifications is BS..  I guess its time to set myself up as a registered company and become a "registered dude" ;)

ps..  gray's comment re: google..   genius!

I always declare everything. It's never much more to pay. Have used HIC for VWs years ago but now do all my motors through ADRIAN FLUX: the daily W123 Benz, the Allegro (v6), Beetle (laid up), the impala project and Taunus coupe.  They are cheap and really punctual. I get texts and emails to remind me of when the policies need attention.
