Air expert Q
« on: January 09, 2008, 07:04:38 PM »
Hey guys - need to see if there is someone who is a bit hot with 'bags in the bournemouth/southampton area. I know jack all about airbags (at the moment) and need a problem looking at. Anyone got someone they know?

Well it's that the car doesn't rise level. Only when the tank has been filling up for like 5-10 mins solid and i hit the front and rear switch does it jump up level. Also the rear bags don't work at the same time - the nearside one raises a bit then the offside joins in.

Could it be because i'm not running it on a full tank of compressed? Will try and get it on nitro and see if that makes a difference.

What you need is a much bigger tank, bigger gauge lines (say half inch should do it, and an edc, then perhaps a nitrogen bottle to be sure.

it'll be so damn quick no-one'll notice it popping one side a little earlier than the other. and it'll be hella fun.

go on, i dare ya!

It already has 3/4 inch lines and a big ass tank - it nearly hops when the tank is full but i rarely fill it because it takes about 10 minutes of driving about with the compressor on.

But yeah the nitro bottle is fo sure - will go down to dorchester to sort an account out on monday.

any basic air system can only put the same psi in each bag. if the corners of your car [assuming you have four corner split which is pretty basic with air!] are different weights they will lift at different rates. That isnt a "fault", its physics. [hydros are just the same but it all happens so fast you tend not to notice  :) ]
you can overcome this to a degree for the road by lifting all the way then dropping to the ride height you want.
If you have 3/4  lines then they are way too big without nitrogen. The volume needed to fill the pipes is what is causing your imbalance to be so noticable. either go down to 1/2" or move the valves to the bags rather than having the at the tank [this also gives the benefit of the pipes acting as extra storage plus you only dump what is in the bag each time].

If you have a "bigass" tank you should have at least 2 100% duty cycle comps, partly for filling but mainly as the comp will burn out in no time if it has to run such big cycles all the time.

desribe car and system a bit more for specific details of what you need to do.................

im positve it is running 3/8 lines   and the nitrogen reg is a 0/150psi max , it woz like that when i first went to see it , and i know rich who brought it did,nt change the gas reg ... he just rorted the air leaks out ,
cool car though it woz gonna be mine  8)  8)

I would've thought we would've heard about another car running 3/4" lines...if your car was running 3/4" lines and valves I doubt it would 'almost hop' it would hop. Christ if I was chipping on strutbags a bellow bagged car would easy leave the ground.
