Total newbie to lowriding
« on: September 25, 2007, 08:18:37 AM »
Hi all,

How the devil are you? I'm 3j.  I don't know where my interest in lowriders really came from but it's kind of sneaked up on me over the past couple of years.

I have a crazy idea which may or may not come off to lowride a 70s Opel Manta A.  I'm not wanting to do crazy hops and height competitions like some of the guys in Lowrider magazine, but it'd be cool to have a car that I could tilt in any direction i wanted for fun.

I've read that airbag suspension gives you better handling then hydraulics, but do they give you the same range of movement?

Thanks guys; it's great to be here.

I miss my Manta. Loved it to death. Twin dellorto 40's Spax, lowered 30mm, 2.5"bore custom system *sigh*

Personally, i'd say bag it. Opels aren't the best things to Juice on account as the body isn't the strongest. Not to mention the ride would be naff. Bags give you quite a lot of movment if you do it right.

R.I.P :(

Mantas are from memory front Mcphearson strut and rear trailing arms right?

trailing arms piss easy but you would need a proper strut bag for the front which isn't really a problem just a little more expensive..

Is tom about cos he had a pair for sale................

Still got em tommas??

Yup - thats right.
Best things with these is the almost flat floorpan, making it great for racing, as it was kinda like an aerofoil. It'd look great on bags I reckon. Juice'd be a waste IMHO.

Loads of room in the boot for compressors and tanks too.
Enginebay has shedloads of space too - more than enough to chuck in a twincam...

Monza on bags..this vid popped up a LOT on the quick google I just did....

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DY9fAa8BpXU

BTW - Manta B's with a 400 bodykit = sex. I'd happily sell the wife for one - and my mum too if it had a Calibra turbo shoved in it.

SOOOOO easy to step the back out on these 8) 8)
