Cheers boys. Well, these things take time but I am a stubborn bastard and I am going to see this car through until it hits the streets looking every bit as good as it has in my dreams. Lots of work still to do obviously, but I have got the interior and the engine is kinda sorted.

Rest assured it'll wear a Lo-Rdz plaque and I'll drive as much as possible....

I have to say I enjoy being part of our little clan. This Lo-Rdz forum really helps me remember why the sh*t I spent so much time, sweat and money trying to achieve a dream car.

Impala news update:  Chassis a little bent and front cross member battered. Have considered buying a whole new chassis from another rotten car but there's nothing being broken in the UK that I can find (1961 to 64). Will look for more cross members in the US perhaps, as this is really holding up the full frame wrap that's about to go down. Oh, and the flake.

In a few months I hope the SS will look a million miles from what it did outside the farm in Max Towers! Will keep you updated with pics. Read all about it in Classic American.

FEEL THE LOVE

News update: The front cross member is salvageable! The original frame will be reused. Col and Justin stripped it bare today and next week the jig/hammering and laser cutting of the 1/4 inch plate begins. I think I've got a semi....

No more serious pics at the mo, but the frame has been finally sand blasted and I've got 2 tons of 6mm Corus steel sheets ready for plasma cutting.

Templates being cut and reinforcement shouldn't take more than 3 weeks or so. I think I've been pursuaded to paint the chassis white as well. Bit porno, but will suit the white roof....

The Pala has been getting worked on slowly, but she's getting there. The chassis is under the knife still, getting plasma cut and 6mm steel formed. This shows the shapes cut and tack welded to start with. After that it will be ARC welded and then probably plug welded here and there.

Decided to have it powdercoated white. Bit porno, but should look rude when finished. Dave at Airwerx (Dorset, near Kustom Kolors) is doing the welding and he'll also be reinforcing the back axle and extending front wishbones. The latter bits won't be powdercoated until the car comes up to Max Hydraulics in Brum where any tinkering and drilling etc can be done.

Once the chassis is done then the body's underside will be shot blasted and painted in top coat, then put on the chassis for the jigging and metal flake. I can't bloody wait. It's been a long time coming...

CHASSIS SO FAR....
